Practical Course on Biological Networks
Practical Lab · Winter 26/27
This hands-on course introduces students to the modeling and analysis of biological systems using network science. Students will learn the theoretical foundations of networks and develop practical computational skills in Python, including network analysis, visualization, simulation, and collaborative software development.
The course combines short lectures with programming and data analysis exercises. Working in small teams of 2–3, students will apply these skills to a biological research question of their choice, exploring applications in areas such as spatial omics, neuroscience, systems biology and more.
The course concludes with a student-led project, documented in a Jupyter Notebook and presented in a oral presentation.
